HI, I'M JASON
This is me. I think it's safe to say that I'm much better behind a camera than I am in front of it.
As much as I am awkward at having my photo taken, I am ten times more awkward when it comes to writing about myself...but hey, let's give it a shot!
SO, WHO ARE YOU?
Hi, I'm Jason. Multi award winning (mega cringe) wedding photographer based in Newton Mearns, East Renfrewshire. Dad to Charlie, the mad toddler and Emily, the little madam and truly loving husband to Clare, the glue.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOURSELF AS A PHOTOGRAPHER?
Hungry! No, not for food; hungry to continuously improve my craft. I've never been the kinda guy that settles for "that'll do" because I am waaaaay too self critical for that. The good news is that this translates to a photographer that'll work his wee cotton socks off on the day to deliver the best service possible.
I used to describe myself as a natural light photographer when I first started out. In most cases this translates to can't/too scared to utilise flash photography. There are so many scenarios on a wedding day that can be improved when you understand light and how to control or manipulate it so I placed a great of emphasis on improving those parts of my photography that I felt were weakest which soon turned into a love for using flash creatively to create those "WOW" images that I strive for!
But what I'm really about is looking to capture the authentic moments that happen throughout the day. A wedding is a day of emotion and I want to be there to witness every drop of it.
But hey, I'm no silent fly on the wall. You'll most certainly have to put up with my sense of humour and I'm probably going to be chatting away to guests. Grannies & kids are my favourites and I'm no stranger to chasing some weans around the tables in a game of "try take a photo of me".
HOW DID YOU GET INTO THE WEDDING INDUSTRY?
Clare once said to me "Put on your big boy pants" and boom, I was a wedding photographer!
That's the short (but very true) version.
The slightly longer version is that I started out in photography because I love gadgets/technology and cameras are part of that. I'm one of those rarer breeds of people that are both pretty technical but also creative so photography was a match made in heaven for me.
After the obligatory "I'm gonna take really nice photos of my newborn child" I found myself extending that to other families and others people's children in exchange for money and then the ol' question comes in..
"Do you do Weddings?"
Jason: "Noooooo I'm not ready for that level of responsibility"
Clare: "Put on your big boy pants"
Jason: "Yes, I also do wedding photography"

I then got the chance to slap on a tuxedo, brush my hair and fiddle around with a bowtie and with Clare on my arm we mingled with some of the most amazing wedding suppliers in Scotland.
